This Week in Lifegroups - Sunday February 1, 2026

This week, we started week 2 of our new sermon series on the book of Ephesians.

In this message, we explored Ephesians 1 about the Apostle Paul, who even while imprisoned carried the Ephesian church on his heart and consistently prayed for them. Like the Old Testament priests who wore breastplates with 12 stones representing the tribes of Israel, Paul carried the names of believers before the Lord in prayer.

This week, in the midst of the ice and snow, we launched our journey through the book of Ephesians by exploring the backstory of how the church at Ephesus began.

The message reminded us that Scripture isn't only ancient history; it's recorded for our instruction and training, to equip us for the good works God has prepared for us and we saw how God continues to write incredible stories through ordinary people who are open to His leading.

The same Holy Spirit who empowered and strengthened the early church wants to fill and strengthen us, and multiply His life through us to the nations.

In this week's sermon, Jimmy shared with us the Biblical story of Abraham and how God’s grace was at work in His life to birth a family of promise. That promise extends to the people of God today and when we live out our calling, we carry grace, life and promise everywhere we go.

In this week's sermon, Jimmy brought us back to the most foundational question of our faith: "Who do you say that I am?" This is the question that Jesus asked His disciples in Matthew 16, and it's the question we must continually re-answer throughout our lives. As we begin 2026, this message calls us to reconnect to the centrality of Jesus, to the authority He has given His church, and to get back up from whatever has knocked us down.

This Week in Lifegroups - Sunday December 7, 2025

In our Advent sermon series, Pastor Carl Gulley has been teaching about the importance of rhythms of Sabbath rest for God's people. These are times when we intentionally stop, rest, delight in God, and reflect on His goodness and faithfulness in our lives.

As a leader, it can always feel like there's more to be done: another challenge to overcome, another problem to solve, another person to love. But taking regular time to stop, rest, delight, and contemplate is one of the primary ways we receive God's shepherding care and allow His grace to strengthen our leadership.

As you come to the end of the semester, prayerfully consider how you can build these rhythms into your own life and how you can help your group walk in this value as well.

I love the story of the Clapham Saints and the fruit God brought through their lives and friendships.

The Clapham Circle was a committed group of friends and families in Clapham, England (south London) in the early 1800s. They were bound together by love for Jesus, a sense of calling to the world around them, and deep friendship with one another.
