This Week in Lifegroups - Sunday November 16, 2025
I love the story of the Clapham Saints and the fruit God brought through their lives and friendships.
The Clapham Circle was a committed group of friends and families in Clapham, England (south London) in the early 1800s. They were bound together by love for Jesus, a sense of calling to the world around them, and deep friendship with one another.
Though deeply committed to each other, they had diverse callings and spheres of influence. Among them were businessmen, politicians, teachers, pastors, writers, government officials, and bankers. Through their devotion to Jesus, their friendships, and the work of their hands in their respective spheres, they contributed to the abolition of slavery, prison reform, educational reform, and taking the Gospel to the nations in their generation.
Our Lifegroups have the potential to be these kinds of communities: marked by love for Jesus, love for one another, and commitment to being witnesses in the world together.
This week I encourage you to cast vision for your group and what the Lord wants to do in and through your relationships. In leading Lifegroup, it's easy to get focused on the details of the night or the needs of a particular person. Those things are important. But it's also important to zoom out and paint the picture of what God can do through groups of friends who surrender themselves together to Jesus and His Kingdom.
