Aquila, Priscilla & You

Marinate On This As You Lead This Week
As we learned in the House to House series, there are many names scattered throughout the pages of the New Testament who led churches that met in their homes:
Aquila and Priscilla - 1 Corinthians 16:19 "Aquila and Priscilla greet you warmly in the Lord, and so does the church that meets at their house."
Philemon - Philemon 1:2 "To Philemon our dear friend and fellow worker—also to Apphia our sister and Archippus our fellow soldier—and to the church that meets in your home."
Nympha - Colossians 4:15 "Give my greetings to the brothers and sisters at Laodicea, and to Nympha and the church in her house."
Lydia - Acts 16:40 "After Paul and Silas came out of the prison, they went to Lydia's house, where they met with the brothers and sisters and encouraged them."
Gaius - Romans 16:23 "Gaius, whose hospitality I and the whole church here enjoy, sends you his greetings."
Mary (mother of John Mark) - Acts 12:12 "When this had dawned on him, he went to the house of Mary the mother of John, also called Mark, where many people had gathered and were praying."
As you lead this semester you are joining alongside these great cloud of witnesses and together we are seeing the Gospel go forth, community built and disciples made house to house in neighborhoods all across our city!

Vision is a tool God uses to guide and strengthen leaders as well as to shepherd His people. God gave Abraham a vision to step out of Ur into a new future. God gave Moses a vision of a future freedom and land flowing with milk and honey. God gave John a vision of a new heaven and new earth. God uses vision to strengthen leaders and shepherd His people.
In each season, you and your Lifegroup need fresh vision.
Why?
Vision ignites passion. With vision, leaders and people are inspired to run. Without vision people throw off restraint and are overcome with apathy or ungodly desires that lead to death. (Proverbs 29.18, Habakkuk 2.2)
Vision gives guidance. Paul had a godly vision and it motivated him and guided him like a compass in the race the Lord called him to. (1 Cor 9.19-27)
Vision unites people. Vision mobilizes people to partner together for a shared purpose. Nehemiah’s vision to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem led the people to rise up and build together (Nehemiah 2.17-18)
Vision gives strength. When the enemies mocked the wall builders, Nehemiah reminded them of their purpose (Nehemiah 4.13-14)
Vision leaks quickly. While Moses was slow coming down the mountain, what had been clear direction from God, (that He was leading them to the Promised Land), leaked out of their hearts when their circumstances became uncertain. They forgot God's promises and defaulted to old patterns of idolatry. (Exodus 32)

I am praying 2 Cor 9.8 of your today: "And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work." May you experience the abundant blessing of God in every area of your life, so that having all you need, you might about in every good work He sets before you!
