7 Biblical Prayers to Pray For The Lost
Purpose: This tool gives you seven biblical prayers to pray for those who don’t know Jesus.
1. Pray that God would send loving and unified groups of believers into their social circles:
John 17.20 “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— 23 I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.
2. Pray that through these believers' good works, this person would be awakened to God’s goodness and Presence. Matthew 5.14-16 - “14 You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
3. Pray that God would open a door for the Gospel message in this person’s life.
Colossians 4.3 And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains.
4. Pray that you would proclaim the gospel clearly, that the Lord would give you supernatural wisdom in the way you relate to them and you would make the most of every opportunity.
Colossians 4.4 Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. 5 Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity.
5. Pray that God would work miracles through the name of Jesus in their life. Acts 4.30 ”Stretch out your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”
6. Pray that God would orchestrate events in their lives that would awaken them to their need for God and his nearness to them. Acts 17.26-27 26 From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. 27 God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us.
7. Pray that God would make His light shine in their hearts so they would see the light of the knowledge of the glory of God displayed in the face of Jesus. 2 Cor 4.6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.
