Ready to Plant a New Group Assessment

We want every Lifegroup to be involved in planting new Lifegroups. Use this assessment to determine if your group is ready to plant a new group.

Planting Readiness Assessment

Score each area and total your points. 12-15 points means preparing to plant a new group; 11 points or less means not yet ready.

Three Key Questions Before Scoring:

  • Do we have enough leaders? Developing new leaders should be your priority. New leaders should be empowered to lead Lifegroup meetings as you approach planting a new group

  • Do we have enough people? There's no magic number, but typically each new group needs at least 8 core members to be strong enough to multiply. Family Lifegroups should consider multiplying when there are more than 10 kids among families.

  • What is God saying? Sometimes the Lord leads us to make decisions that don't immediately make sense. Always leave room for direction from the Lord.

Attendance Assessment (Maximum 4 Points):

  • Give yourself 1 point for every 3 core members who attend 3-4 times per month

  • Do not count your leadership team in this calculation

  • Score: _____ points

Leadership Assessment (Maximum 6 Points):

  • Leaders and interns for multiplied Lifegroups are in regular attendance (not sporadic) - 1 point

  • At least one male and one female leader for each multiplied Lifegroup - 1 point

  • Both leadership teams have developed good group skills and led group at least three times - 1 point

  • All members of both leadership teams feel called to work with Lifegroup ministry - 1 point

  • All leaders have gone through Intern process and fulfill Lifegroup Leader standards - 1 point

  • New groups have interns identified - 1 point

  • Score: _____ points

Readiness Assessment (Maximum 5 Points):

  • There is a place for both multiplied groups to meet - 1 point

  • Leaders are motivated, full of vision, and share that vision regularly with members - 1 point

  • Members of both leadership teams have been in group at least two months and bonded to members - 1 point

  • Leaders see opportunity of leadership in Lifegroups as privilege, not just duty - 1 point

  • There is a worship leader ready for both groups - 1 point

  • Score: _____ points
