Leading Prayer Ministry in Lifegroup
After discussion, break the big group into smaller groups of 2-3 to pray for specific needs and for the lost.
Structure:
Break into small groups of 2-3 people for the actual prayer time
Share personal needs first - let each person briefly share what they need prayer for
Start with personal needs - pray for what people just shared
Move to evangelistic prayer - agree in prayer for unsaved and struggling co-workers and friends
Always end with prayer for the lost - this happens every single meeting
Leadership principles:
If leaders are real and vulnerable, the people will also be vulnerable - model openness in sharing your own needs
Teach them how to minister to one another - this is your key role as leader
Believe for the Holy Spirit to meet needs - have faith expectation that God will work
Create safe environment for people to step out in ministry and prayer
Encourage everyone to participate - don't let people just listen
Model praying for others - show them how to lay hands on people and pray with faith
Help people learn to pray aloud - gently encourage those who are hesitant
Practical tips:
Keep sharing brief so there's more time for actual prayer
Consider dividing men and women into separate prayer groups if appropriate
Have people write down prayer requests to remember throughout the week
Follow up on previous prayer requests - ask how people are doing with things you prayed for before
End on time - respect people's schedules even during prayer
Create atmosphere where Holy Spirit can move - be expectant for God to speak, heal, and minister through group members
